Creativity has always been part of my work. Now reimagined.

I'm Laura Prpich, a graphic designer, educator, and neuroscience-informed therapeutic arts practitioner based in the Comox Valley, British Columbia.

For more than 26 years, I've worked in the creative industry exploring visual communication, storytelling, symbolism, human behaviour, and the ways experiences influence how we think, feel, and connect. Over time, I became fascinated by a bigger question:

What role does creativity play in our well-being?

That curiosity led me to explore neuroscience, psychology, and therapeutic arts-informed practices, and eventually to develop a practice focused on the connection between creativity, the brain, and overall well-being.

An important note about my practice:

I am not a registered or certified art therapist, and my workshops are not a substitute for psychotherapy, counselling, or other clinical mental health services. My work is educational, drawing from therapeutic arts-informed practices, neuroscience, psychology, and more than two decades of experience in creative practice and education.

Why creativity?

We live in a world of constant stimulation, distraction, and disconnection. Creativity gives us an opportunity to slow down, focus our attention, process experiences, and reconnect with ourselves and others.

Research increasingly supports what many of us intuitively know: creative engagement can support:

  • Stress reduction

  • Emotional regulation

  • Mindfulness

  • Cognitive flexibility

  • Overall wellbeing

You don't need to be an artist to benefit. My workshops combine creative exploration, neuroscience-informed education, and human connection in a welcoming, judgement-free environment.

Beyond the studio.

I'm also the founder of Caribou Creative, an independent design studio, and have taught and mentored emerging designers throughout my career.

Today, I bring that experience into a new chapter of my creative practice through workshops, retreats, and educational resources designed to help people reconnect with themselves through creativity.

Creativity isn't about what you make. It's about what happens when you make space to create.
